The "People's Race" as it is well known because of its enormous community support has hosted two Australian Age Group and Elite Championship titles, two Oceania Championships and was the selection race for the 2004 New Zealand Olympic team.

Again, in 2013, the Devonport Triathlon is honoured to be selected as the venue for the 2012 OTU Oceania Triathlon Championships which will be held at the Triathlon's new $6 million home, the recently redeveloped Devonport Surf Life Saving Club on the foreshore at Mersey Bluff. What a history; what a venue, what a race!!
